The hip-hop dance company BackBone creates relevant and urgent work based on the values of hip-hop. Intensity, sincerity of performance, groundedness in choreography and bold storytelling are central to this. Our productions are raw and profound and aim to excite the audience and make them think about their part in society.
In 2012, BackBone was founded by Alida Dors. After Alida made her move to Theater Rotterdam, Donna Chittick has been at the helm of BackBone as artistic director since 2023.
